This is also where external cultural influences can lead people away from diligent adherence to Christian philosophy through the adoption of teachings and practices not intrinsically associated with Christ but that serve the higher priority of quantitative growth.

The obfuscation of primary goals regarding religions based upon Christian philosophy, lending them to be directed by a desire to have a maximum quantitative impact, lessens their ability to affect intimate and personal change in the heart of an individual.

This seems to be an irrational outcome of rational behavior when regarding the discipleship of followers who would in turn have a less effective impact on others.

The push for quantitative growth also has a powerful effect on the kinship of followers. It has been my experience that most large churches have to create small group ministries in an attempt to overcome the impersonality of McDonaldization. Religious systems built upon the impetus of quantity as opposed to quality utilize rationalization to implement practices that employ marketing techniques designed for the greatest possible outreach as opposed to the most powerful personal influence; a detrimental disparity regarding quality is realized and the essence of Christian philosophy is therefore compromised.
