What if mighty ducks
Well, according to series showrunner Steven Brill, if a second season happens that could change. Brill also spoke with ComicBook. Brill also spoke with Collider about what he how he feels the series should move forward. To me, the next season instinctively should feel like Ducks 2, which took the kids to a new environment. Yo disneyplus go ahead and announce season two of The Mighty Ducks! It hits on all the right nostalgic notes while also not being too corny, Emilio is fantastic and all kids are perfectly cast.
The Mighty Ducks finale really decided to make me cry huh. Pre-COVID, we wanted to layer in all of the characters throughout the season more, where they could be part of the fabric of Minnesota, and they could come in and out and play different roles, and some would guest star for a reunion, or something like that.
We arced it out, thinking about them always having a presence. Was it hard to figure out who you wanted? Did you ask everybody, and this was just who was available? BRILL: I would have loved to have virtually everybody there, but then that would have turned into a cameo fest, which could have been cool.
So, I looked at the core group — the ones who all went through Ducks 1 , 2 and 3 together. That was the first mandate. And they had to be Minneapolis based still, so it became that core group. People had to come up for a month for that job because of quarantining, so there were restrictions. I was really excited about that. Did it feel that way on set? They imprinted these characters from 11 to 16 or 17, which was their formative years, and they were able to access that right away.
It was hilarious and it was awesome. I was so happy. It was really fun. Josh [Goldsmith] and Cathy [Yuspaalso] wanted me in. Everyone wanted to see Frank Huddy, which was my character from the first one. And then, in the second one, I play a different character. I wanted to revisit what happened to my guy and I actually wrote myself a part and I was going to do it, but I did a really dumb thing. I definitely need to come back. The Don't Bothers didn't get a chance to compete in the championship despite making it to the finals, but the team received a chance to play against the Mighty Ducks in the end.
As a side bet, the Don't Bothers played their rivals at their home rink, claiming the Mighty Ducks' name as part of their win. Rather than the current purple color scheme, Coach Bombay will return to the team's roots with the original green and yellow look.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers season 2 could follow the team as the league's new powerhouse while keeping their fun-focused mentality in place. Like D2: The Mighty Ducks , maybe the former Don't Bothers could take their game to a new level by playing in a tournament against international opponents. As for the slow burn romance between Bombay and Lauren Graham 's Alex that began to develop in this episode, Brill promises that fans can "absolutely" expect to see that explored more in the back half of this season. And we've got to follow through," he says. They've got this natural give and take and that makes for great romantic comedy tension.
And the fact that they are co-coaches and are ostensibly co-parents to these kids in a way, they're like the mom and dad, there's that dynamic too that's interesting to explore. In the original Mighty Ducks movies, it always felt like Charlie's mom Casey and Bombay had that same kind of spark but nothing ever came about. And Brill reveals that plans to explore that romance in D2: The Mighty Ducks were scrapped for logistical reasons. And then Ducks 2 a year and a half later, we didn't follow through with it, and Gordon had taken a different path," Brill says with a laugh.
And then Ducks 3 we brought her back but it was sort of post-romance and Gordon Bombay wasn't in Ducks 3 that much. But just because a Bombay-Casey Conway romance didn't happen onscreen 30 years ago doesn't mean it didn't happen off screen.
